Week One Blog Entry: Introductions

Hey! My name is Katelyn Groettum and I'm a 20 year old living in Northern Virginia. I took a year off of school after I graduated in 2010, but started up again in Fall 2011. I'm interested in the major Human Services, which is part of the reason I'm taking Soc 200. Ultimately I would love to open my own charity. If that goal doesn't pan out, I would love to work at a juvenile detention center, work in social services, or be an elementary school teacher! 

 I love animals, books, baking, Disney movies, tattoos, music, and fashion. I'm a huge fan of cities, I would love to live in New York City someday. I have one dog named Noel who I absolutely adore. My favorite books are the Harry Potter series (of course), Peter Pan, and The Great Gatsby. I'm excellent in English and History, but terrible at Math and Science. I like literally every type of music you can imagine. I love to travel and if I had it my way, my life would constantly be just vacation after vacation so I could see every inch of the world. I'm a strong believer in karma... what goes around will ALWAYS come back around!

    Hi Katelyn,

    It's nice to meet you! We are the same age and I also took a gap year after high school. I danced ballet professionally during that time. Your career aspirations sound amazing. That's wonderful that you want to make a difference in your community. You obviously have a giving spirit.
    I love Harry Potter, Disney movies, and all kinds of music too. I also believe in karma and often wear a karma necklace. It has a pretty, silver circle in it and came with a card that said, "A reminder to keep the circle, positive, peaceful, and loving." Haha :) Anyway, best of luck with the course!
